Short bio:

Since January 2017 Johannes Rath has been Chief Digital Officer of the Signal Iduna Group, one of Germany's largest insurance groups. He is responsible for defining and implementing the company's digital strategy. Together with an interdisciplinary team he is also looking for new business areas, interesting partnerships and innovative digital approaches.


Johannes Rath has been working in the insurance industry for over 15 years. Starting his career as insurance broker at Generali he soon demonstrated outstanding management skills. His passion for digital trends and his deep understanding of user needs led the then 26-year-old to the Signal Iduna Group, where in 2010 he founded sijox, the Group's young brand, as a start-up within the Group. In 2016 Johannes Rath became Head of Human Resource Development at the Signal Iduna Group.


Because of his experience in the insurance industry combined with his ability to identify digital potential within the company Johannes Rath became Signal Iduna's strategic expert. He leads the digital transformation of the Group and is also responsible for the identification and development of new digital business models.


Johannes Rath studied business administration in Hamburg and Boston and wrote his thesis on "Quality Sales 2.0”.
